There are two types of local operators:

I. Internet Service Providers (ISP)


CAMTEL provides them or accepts their requests for infrastructure sharing or establishing value-added service partnerships.

- Infrastructure sharing:

Has to do partly with the co-location of sites (space on towers, buildings, land and energy supply units and also the commissioning of local and trunk transmission links as well as Internet bandwidth.

- Value-added services:

These are telecommunications services to which suppliers "add value" based on information provided by customers by improving their form or content or by providing storage and research.

They are:

  • The resale of voice traffic;
  • The bulk purchase of SMS;
  • Internet access.

OTNOP (Operators of Telecommunication Networks Open to the Public)


In addition to the above mentioned services offered to ISPs, CAMTEL provides OTNOPs, operators or dealers, fibre optics international transmission links via SAT-3 and provides termination traffic for interconnection, voice and SMS.
